· About Molsam

Behind every registered trademark and every successful legal strategy there is a great deal of planning, coffee and a pace that does not let up.

What a day actually contains

Availability searches, which is where most of the value is created. Reading the register carefully before a client spends money is the single highest-return hour in this practice.

Drafting responses to office actions. IMPI raises an objection, usually likelihood of confusion or lack of distinctiveness, and the answer is a written argument with evidence. There is no hearing. The document is the case.

Deadline management. Declarations of use, renewals, response windows. None of these send reminders, and missing one is irreversible.

Client conversations, which are often about talking someone out of a bad filing rather than into a good one.

Why we publish this

Because the profession has a habit of making itself look mysterious, and that mystery is expensive for clients. If you understand what the work involves, you can judge whether it is being done well.

If you want to know what protecting your brand would actually involve, the first search and opinion are free.
